Deputy Cane Commissioner Directs Early Submission of Sugarcane Survey Data, Reviews Plantation and Sugar Stock Verification

Bareilly: Deputy Cane Commissioner Rajesh Mishra chaired the monthly review meeting at the Cane Bhawan auditorium, directing officials to expedite the submission of variety-wise sugarcane survey data and ensure accurate verification of farmers’ records to improve transparency and timely service delivery.

Reviewing the progress of the ongoing sugarcane survey, Mishra instructed officials to submit variety-wise survey data to his office without delay. He emphasised that 100 per cent verification of ratoon sugarcane area and variety-related corrections for every farmer must be completed to ensure the accuracy of departmental records.

He said a transparent and error-free survey would facilitate timely sugarcane price payments, issuance of cane supply slips, and other departmental processes, ultimately benefiting farmers. Officials were also instructed to verify all records before deleting ratoon crop plots from the departmental portal to prevent discrepancies.

The Deputy Cane Commissioner also reviewed preparations for the statewide plantation drive scheduled for July 12, 2026. He directed all cooperative societies, cane development councils, and sugar mills to identify suitable land and complete all preparatory work in advance.

He specified that saplings planted during the campaign should be at least four feet tall and that proper arrangements must be made for pit excavation, irrigation, and long-term protection of the plants. Stressing environmental sustainability, Mishra advised against planting species such as eucalyptus that consume excessive groundwater, and instead encouraged the plantation of environmentally suitable species to strengthen green cover and support ecological balance.

The meeting also reviewed the physical verification of sugar stocks at cooperative and private sugar mills across the region. District Cane Officers were instructed to complete the verification within the stipulated timeline and submit detailed reports to the Deputy Cane Commissioner’s office.

Officials were directed to carefully reconcile the actual sugar stock available in warehouses with stock registers and other official records to eliminate discrepancies. Mishra said that any irregularities or differences detected during the verification process should be immediately reported to higher authorities for appropriate action in accordance with established procedures.

Representatives of sugar mills were also instructed to ensure the prompt clearance of pending sugarcane dues to farmers, along with the payment of cooperative society contributions.

The meeting was attended by District Cane Officers from across the division, Divisional Extension Officers, Additional Statistical Officers, Senior Cane Development Inspectors, Secretaries of Cooperative Cane Development Societies, and representatives of all sugar mills in the region.
